| This doesn't have anything to do with what's going on in my life, but this was a comment on someone else's entry, and I thought I'd add my $0.02.
Trust is a major part of any social group. People
should be able to trust each other especially when hashing out their
problems to someone else. Sometimes it's needed to talk about what's
going on in your life to someone else just to give yourself validity or
focus. I remember when I was in youth group, and gossip started getting
out of hand. People started to not come to church events, and
eventually, stopped coming to church at all. If you want to preserve
the purpose of youth group events as praising and learning about God
together as brothers and sisters in Christ, then the gossip needs to
stop (also, don't make purple ^^). Gossip is the grapevine that chokes the life out of any social
group. Things get out of hand-- things get vicious-- things get very
personal. People should be helpful to one another. If you have a
problem with someone, you should deal with it face to face and in a
very respectful manner. I know it's really fun to gossip sometimes, but
don't be surprised when it comes to bite you in the *ss. I also think people should confront gossipers, because if you say something
about a person to a 3rd party, you should be able to say the same thing to
the person you're talking about.
"Above all, my brothers, do
not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes"
be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned."
James 5:12
Do not "swear," as in "I swear I'll never tell," and be upfront with each other. "...let your yes be yes and your no be no." |
